Twitter / Description
There are lots of Twitter apps available, like Echofon but this really is a benchmark release. It's user friendly and simple for basic users, but also has all the abilities more hardcore users require.
Once you've signed up, or signed in, your normal Twitter feed will load up. Tweets can be viewed, links opened, retweeted and replied to as usual. Swipe a tweet and a menu of icons appears giving you the full range of options.
Writing a tweet is simple, and a menu can be opened to add hash tags, photos, users, video or even a geotag to your post. It's very simple and clearly designed. Twitter supports multiple accounts, and you can choose from a variety of different additional services for images, video and URL shortening.
When viewing a user profile in Twitter, you can add them to an existing or new name in your iPhone's address book. You can also quick follow a contact in multiple profiles. Settings are excellent, allowing you to alter image quality and much more. However, there is no longer support for rotation, so you can't read Twitter in landscape any more.
Overall, the Twitter app is fantastic. It's new icon may not be a sweet as Tweetie's, but it's a much more powerful and complete application that really raises the bar for Twitter apps.
